Week 9

I had a good week. We learned a lot about hiring and firing employees through readings and discussion boards this week. I learned that you want to take your time when you are hiring somebody because you don’t want to have to turn around and fire them because they aren’t a good fit for the company. If you don’t fire somebody that needs to be fired that can put the whole company in jeopardy and ruin the morale of the rest of the employees. Once you come to the conclusion that an employee needs to go, don’t sit around and wait. Do it fast. Then you can move on to finding the right person for the job. We also learned about JetBlue this week. Jet blue figured out an innovative way to succeed amongst other high-profile airlines in a time where there were a lot of airlines going out of business. I didn’t know much about JetBlue before and I have never flown on that airline. I wouldn’t mind flying on JetBlue someday, but they only fly out of the airport in Anchorage, Alaska seasonally.

Things are moving along in my business. I didn’t have any buyers this week, but I am going to continue to advertise and do what I can to bring more customers in. Since it rained most of the week, I haven’t been able to make as many bath bombs as I would’ve liked. Humidity and bath bombs don’t mix as I learned in a previous week. I may have to try some sort of sale to entice more customers. I’ve been thinking about that a lot this last week. Here’s to more sales next week!
